She already has the stick, the skates and a bag that smells like a rink. Here is what she doesn't have: hockey apparel that was actually made for her.
Most hockey gifts for girls and women are a men's shirt in a smaller size, or something pink. This is the other option. Eight picks, sorted by who you're buying for, with prices, sizing help and the dates to order by.
For the goalie
Fearless Goalie Hoodie — from $69
The one to buy if you only buy one. A goalie mask, a braid and a stick, drawn in a single clean line down the chest. Goalies notice the braid first, and it's the reason they wear it. Heavyweight fleece, 15 colours, XS to 3XL. It also clears the free-shipping line on its own.
Fearless Goalie Tee — from $34.95
Same graphic, lighter price. Soft cotton, true to size, XS to 4XL. Black, navy and white show the artwork best. If you want to know why the design looks the way it does, read the story behind Fearless.
For the forward or the defender
Fearless Hockey Player Tee — from $34.95
A skater in full stride, hair flying, puck on her stick. For the one who lives for the rush up the wing. Soft cotton, XS to 4XL. Go with black, navy or white for the sharpest print.
For the hockey mom, the coach and the fan in the stands
Skate Like A Girl Hockey Hoodie — from $69
The full wordmark across the chest, with a maple leaf underneath. Built for a 6 a.m. practice in a cold rink and warm enough to prove it. Eight colours, S to 2XL. Ships free in Canada.
Skate Like A Girl Hockey Tee — from $34.95
The same wordmark on a soft cotton tee. The easy pick when you don't know her position, and the one that gets worn to the rink, the gym and the grocery store. XS to 4XL.
Skate Like A Girl Hockey Snapback Cap — $39.95
Embroidered wordmark, structured front, six colourways. One size, so there is nothing to guess. The safest gift on this list, and the best answer to helmet hair.
For the kid who just made her first team
Kids Skate Like A Girl Hockey T-Shirt — $29.95
A real youth cut in youth sizes XS to XL, not an adult small that hangs to her knees. Twelve colours. Navy and black carry the wordmark best.
Kids Fearless Goalie Tee — $29.95
For the one who asked to go in net when nobody else would. The same mask, braid and stick as the adult line, sized for young goalies. Eleven colours, youth XS to XL.
Getting the size right when you can't ask her
- Tees run true to size. If she likes them loose, go up one.
- Hoodies have room built in. Order her usual size for the classic fit.
- Kids' sizes are youth sizes. Between two sizes, take the larger one. She is still growing.
- No idea at all? Buy the cap.
Exact measurements are on every product page, and the tee and hoodie fit guide walks through it in two minutes.
When to order
Everything is printed to order, so it is made for her and not pulled off a shelf. That takes a few days before it ships. For a birthday or a tournament weekend, order two weeks ahead. For Christmas, order by December 1 to be safe.
Orders over $69 ship free anywhere in Canada. One hoodie gets you there. So do two tees.
